Dorothy’s journey has been nothing short of incredible. Once living in a now-demolished building on 3rd Street in Albany, she was left to fend for herself in a vacant lot after the city cleared the area. That same block was home to Uncle Henry and Toto too—fellow Whiskers of Oz alumni who’ve also been given a second chance. When we found Dorothy, she had an injured tail that required amputation. But don’t worry—she’s doing beautifully now and carries herself with quiet grace. While she may not have a tail, she has plenty of heart. Now safe and settled, Dorothy has gently assimilated into shelter life. She coexists peacefully with other cats but tends to do her own thing—often found perched in a cozy corner, calmly observing her surroundings like the quiet guardian of the room. She’s a gentle soul who appreciates peace and would do best in a calm home without small children, with someone who has cat-experience. Dorothy may not ask for the spotlight, but she’s ready to be someone’s leading lady. Could that someone be you? Approx. DOB: 09/05/2022

Tiramisu came to Whiskers in February after she was spotted crying in our own backyard! She was perched on top of the fence, waiting patiently—clearly hoping someone would notice her and offer a good meal (and some love). And we did. It didn’t take long for this gorgeous girl to win hearts, and she was soon adopted by a loving family. Sadly, things didn’t quite work out—Tiramisu wasn't a fan of the resident dog. Since her return, we’ve noticed that she seems uncomfortable around other cats as well. We believe Tiramisu would be happiest as the only pet in her home. This stunning girl is incredibly affectionate with people. She seeks out attention, adores being loved on, and has a way of locking eyes with you that’s absolutely captivating. Her beautiful eyes are just as expressive as her sweet personality! If you’re looking for a friendly, loving companion who wants to be your main focus (and doesn’t want to share the spotlight with any pups), Tiramisu may be your perfect match.
